Jasmine tea

Jasmine Flower Maofeng Superfine Tea 125g

SKU: JFT-NU-S125

strong jasmine flower smell; minor astringent with sweet returning

  •     Jasmine tea is honored as the most fragrant and popular scented Chinese tea in the world. Our Jasmine tea is made from super quality High Mountain MaoFeng green tea leaves which is repeatedly scented with fresh jasmine flowers up to four times, allowing the tea leaves to fully absorb the fragrance and to create a tea with longer-lasting taste and aroma.

Jasmine flower tea is one of the most enjoyable herbal teas that is available to us today. Its pleasant floral scent combined with the soothing therapeutic benefits it has to offer are what make it a highly enjoyable tea. Since its effects are gentle and soothing it can be given in small amounts to children as well.

Tea leaves are harvested in the early spring and stored until the late summer when fresh jasmine flowers are in bloom. Jasmine flowers are picked early in the day when the small petals are tightly closed. The flowers are kept cool until nightfall. During the night jasmine flowers open, and release their fragrance, and this is when the tea scenting takes place. There are two main methods used to scent the tea with the jasmine. In one method the tea and flowers are placed in alternating layers; in the other, the tea is blended with jasmine flowers and stored overnight. It takes over four hours for the tea to absorb the fragrance and flavor of the jasmine blossoms. The scenting process may be repeated as many as six or seven times for top grades such as Yin Hao. The tea absorbs moisture from the fresh Jasmine flowers so it must be dried again to prevent spoilage.

    Benefits of Jasmine Flower

Modern biological studies have shown that drinking Jasmine tea can have health and immunity benefits. Jasmine tea contains several different kinds of antioxidants that provide protection to the membranes of red blood cells. This added protection helps fend off free radical-induced oxidation of the red blood cells. There are many therapeutic benefits to be obtained from this tea as well. Jasmine tea not only has a calming scent, but also has the ability to reduce stress and ease depression. Drinking it can also alleviate anxiety and tension in the nerves and muscles of the body. The tranquil effects of this drink can lower blood pressure and relax both the mind and body making it an effective tea to drink for headache relief as well. In fact, jasmine tea is often used in aromatherapy because even just the scent of jasmine flower is believed to have many sedative and calming effects. These therapeutic benefits may be particularly useful for women who are going through menopause since these effects can help calm many of its symptoms.

Pretty interesting Puerh

I have to readily admit this Puerh is nothing like the Puerh I had drunk when I was a teenager living in Hong Kong during the 70s, where my grandma always served us some 100-year old Puerh tea with deep dark color, was never bitter, but was always "sweet". That I ready the description of this Puerh and learned that it was "raw" and that it should be broken apart and air out. Well, only ordered a sample pack and most of the tea leaves were still clumped together and I did not have the time to air it out. It does have a unique taste, more like a green tea than a fermented black tea. In short, it is really not too bad and possible if I prepare it correctly, it may even taste better. But if you want a tradition Puerh tea, this would not be for you, but if you do not like the strong taste of regular Puerh tea, you may enjoy this one.

A bit disappointing!

I used to drink the Jasmine pearl tea sold by Ten Ren Tea ($37.75 for 4 oz.) and it is not bad, then in the last year or two, their Jasmine pearl tea still smelled good but did not have any taste, something had changed. Therefore I had high hope with this tea. It smelled just as good as that of Ten Ren's but when drinking it, it was bitter and did not have any flagrant of Jasmine tea. Quite disappointing and I do hope the would allow my post. When I was a child, the Jasmine tea I drank in Shanghi restaurants in Hong Kong, with color like that of beer and full of aroma. Sad that it could not be found anywhere.
