A Good Tea or Bad Tea? You Are the Judge

A few friends were surrounding the table and enjoying a new tea. Others have repeatedly praised how good the tea tasted, how significant the aroma was or how smooth the taste was, but you didn’t find such good taste they described. At beginning, you probably thought it might not be a good day for tea, and then you would like to drink a few more to find the right feelings. But the more you drink the fuzzier you get, and you even doubted if your unresponsive tasting sensor having problems. Finally, you only quietly drank this indescribable tea, and even coordinated with friends’ evaluations.

It is normal that you cannot tell how good the tea is at the time, especially encountered a new tea that has never tasted. Your true tasting is easily affected by the introduction of tea on the package, the price, or other people's evaluation. Therefore, it is not easy to determine how good the tea is and trust in your own idea without being affected by others at the tea table. You need a lot of confidence, and rich enough tea tasting experience.

Since the rise of the media in recent years, there are some tea evaluation agencies doing the evaluation. They buy their own tea from market and hire specialist to evaluate the tea quality. Then they publish the result of evaluation to tea consumers for reference. The idea of this evaluation looks good; however, you will find that many problems existed. Drinking tea and reviewing tea are subjective in oneself. The independence of evaluation agencies and related personnel, as well as the rigorousness yet are needed to be discussed.

It is common and reasonable to have a disagreement on the taste of tea with others. Tasting varies from person to person. If it was not the taste you liked, you would give a bad evaluation even though it was superfine or super grade tea. In the processing side, due to different methods of processing, the taste characteristics will be a big difference. Like oolong, some people like light fermentation, some people prefer more fermented. These two cannot be commented which is good or bad. So having different point of view will be very normal.
